Connect Breeze
The steps here are stable; exact screenshots will be added once the interface is final.
You can import your volunteers from Breeze into Volunteer Circle. Breeze needs one thing first: an API key. You import by Tags.
New to importing? Read How importing your people works first — it covers the rules that apply to every ChMS.
Part 1 — Get your Breeze API key
If you’re the Volunteer Circle admin but not a Breeze admin, forward this section to whoever administers Breeze for your church.
- In Breeze, go to Account Settings → Extensions → API.
- Find (or generate) your church’s API key.
Then send these two things back to the Volunteer Circle admin:
- Subdomain — the part before
.breezechms.comin your Breeze web address (for example, if your Breeze isfirstchurch.breezechms.com, the subdomain isfirstchurch). - API key
Part 2 — Connect it in Volunteer Circle
Once you have the subdomain and API key:
- In Volunteer Circle, go to the import screen and choose Breeze.
- Enter the subdomain and API key.
- Volunteer Circle connects and shows you the Tags it can see.
- For each Tag you want, choose to create a new team, map it to an existing team, or skip it.
- Run the import.
The people with those Tags come in as pending for you to review and activate, and their Tag becomes their Volunteer Circle team membership. Imported fields are first name, last name, and email.
Tip: In Breeze, a Tag is the natural way to group your volunteers — a tag per serving team or ministry. If your volunteers aren’t tagged yet, tagging them in Breeze first makes the import map cleanly.
Your credentials stay safe
- The API key is stored encrypted.
- It’s used only to read the tagged people you selected — nothing is ever written back to Breeze.
- You can revoke access anytime by regenerating or removing the API key in Breeze (Account Settings → Extensions → API).
