Plans, pricing, and how billing works

Plan structure is described here so it stays accurate. For current dollar figures, always check the pricing page — that page is the source of truth for prices.

Volunteer Circle is a subscription, billed per church (not per user). Plans are flat and generous rather than nickel-and-dimed, and they build on each other.

Three plans that add up

Volunteer Circle has three capabilities — Care, Communicate, and Train — and the plans stack in that order:

Care — the base plan. People and teams, the care dashboard (who’s recently contacted, who to contact soon, who to reach out to now), contact logging, the Reach-out composer, care reminders, and analytics. Care works entirely from the leader side, so it’s fully useful even before your volunteers are in the app.

Care + Communicate — everything in Care, plus in-app messaging: team chats, group and one-to-one conversations, reactions, notifications, and the safety rules that go with them (message permanence, two-adult rule for minors, owner oversight).

Care + Communicate + Train — the full bundle. Everything above plus training: the platform course library, custom course authoring with video and downloads, pathways, huddles, weekly curriculum, and capability tracking for every volunteer.

You can start on Care and add Communicate or Train later without changing anything else about your account.

Founder pricing

Churches that join during the founding window get the full bundle at the Care + Communicate price, and that rate stays locked for as long as the subscription stays active. Founder pricing is offered at signup during the founding window only. If a founding church grows into a larger volunteer band, they keep founder pricing for the bigger band; moving to a smaller band switches to standard pricing.

How size factors in

Every plan is priced by volunteer count band — under 50 volunteers, up to 100, up to 250, up to 500, and up to 1,000. Only active people with the volunteer or leader role count toward your band; admins, guardians, and archived or pending people don’t. Your plan includes the seats for its band; if you add people past that, the app asks you to move up a band.

How you pay

Billing happens through web checkout on our site, outside the app stores:

1. Create your church account on the web.
2. Check out on our site to start your subscription (card on file; founding churches get their free period before the first charge).
3. Invite your team.
4. Everyone logs into the web and mobile apps with one account.

Paying on the web rather than through the App Store or Google Play keeps pricing simple and avoids store fees being passed on to you. You can change plans or bands from Settings → Billing in the web app.
